Hello world I'm live! www.brandoncruz.com

After months of work building my portfolio, I'm proud to announce the launch of www.brandoncruz.com This site is dedicated to my work as portrait and wedding photographer. I'd like to thank to the special couples that entrusted me to capture their joyful and loving moments together. Also I'm very greatful to my wife who patiently endured being my default model and photographic assistant while learning my craft.

The best way to learn photography is to challenge yourself

I wanted to get better acquainted with my Sigma 105mm macro lens so I decided to participate in Dyxum.com - April Foolishness II : the challenge is to use ONE prime lens for the whole month. You can set your own additional personal challenges, for instance I included a "bolt on" requirement that all my shots should have a feeling of "warmth" to them or have "bold colors".

So what can you learn from it?
From participating on two previous one prime challenges with a 50mm and 24mm lenses the most important thing come away with is knowing the strengths and weakness of your gear.
Another important thing is you train you eye/brain to see the world as it would appear if you are looking through the lens.

So here are the best 3 from Day 1 - can you guess which theme?

Thanks to my lovely wife who patiently posed for me =)

Just do it!

After fair amount of procrastination on my part the blog is finally up and the formatting is getting close to my liking. This blog will serve as place to document and share my photographic (addiction) interests. I plan on posting quite a bit of material related to improving ones photography skills and also feature some low cost DIY projects (home brew) that will help budding photogs on a budget experiment and learn before paying a visit to the camera store (dealers). So welcome to and let's get started...
